Morgon is one of the most prestigious locations in Beaujolais and the Côte du Py has stood out throughout history for its ability to conceive wines of density, structure and minerality. Here, the soil profile is different from the “granitic norm” of the region and shale assumes the main role. Schist very altered in its nature, also with volcanic diorites, and richness of manganese and iron. Iron, which contributes to the more reductive profile of the wines that are born there, combined with the structured profile that Mee Godard seeks, calls for decanting. The manganese contributes even more to the structure. 30 minutes of air in your house will open up the delicate floral aromas of this wine, making the fruit and schist minerality grow. Firm but very polished tannins.

Mee Godard is a rising star in France and the world, and in just a few years she has already been awarded star of the year by the renowned French magazine "Revue des Vins de France".

Wine:
Only 1.7 hectares on the Cote du Py climat, the famous “grand cru” of Beaujolais. Mee Godard's vines are approaching 70 years old.

“Vinification is classic: whole bunches are retained for the most part and maceration lasts several weeks, with pump-overs and punch-downs adapted from vintage to vintage. Maturation continues in concrete, foudre, demi-muids and barrels, depending on the cuvée. The resulting wines are pure, elegantly structured and traditionally styled, with substance to age but also considerable early charm.” William Kelley

Jancis Robinson: 17.5/20 points.
