Montalcino’s absolute highlight in the spectacular The Sommelier’s Atlas of Taste, the new book by the most influential sommelier in the world, Rajat Parr, Le Ragnaie is truly a gem. Unlike the pompous producers of international wines laden with super ripe black fruit and oak from Tuscany's most celebrated DOCG, Le Ragnaie delivers wines that are “classic, charming, elegant and oriented towards red fruit”, according to Raj. The secret lies in the high-altitude vineyards, one of them the highest in the region, all in organic mode, and in the most traditional vinification possible.
By Vigna Casanovina Montosoli. In 2015, Le Ragnaie acquired this parcel of vineyard from Motosoli just below the historic site of the Altesino estate. This Sangiovese is fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete before spending 3 years in 32 hl Slovenian oak vats.
