Producer:
Oddero Poderi e Cantine is one of the most historic names in Barolo, with deep roots in the region for over 200 years and a strong influence on its culture of great wines. If Burgundy boasts names like Musigny, Chambertin and Romanée-Conti, Barolo responds loudly with the sublime vineyards of Vignarionda, Brunate and Bussia, all organically worked by the Oddero family. In this address we always have great Barolos of territory, in their most classic and traditional form, exponentiating all the intoxicating purity of the perfume of the majestic Nebbiolo variety in sacred soils.
Wine:
Iconic 0.8 ha vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba. The name derives from the word 'rotonda', an analogy to the round shape of this hill. Its soil is of the Serravallian age (sometimes called Helvetian), of the Lequio formation, or layers of gray marl alternating with sandstone, formed by siliceous sands more or less cemented between the layers of marl, and calcium carbonate, iron carbonate and inorganic residues of plant and mineral organisms. Its high limestone content is the highest in the entire Barolo area! It ferments in 50 hl tanks and ages for 40 months in Austrian wood, also large.
