Viticulture & Terroir

This Bastardo comes from centenarian vines over 100 years old, grown on granitic soils along the banks of the Tâmega River near Vidago, at 650 metres of altitude.
Harvest is manual, carried out in the first week of September, following organic farming and minimal-intervention practices.

Winemaking

After transport to the winery (approximately 100 km), the grapes were destemmed with a small percentage of whole clusters.
Fermentation took place in clay amphorae (talhas) at a controlled temperature of 15ºC, with daily bâtonnage and 25 days of skin-contact maceration.
Ground chestnut flowers were used as a natural fermentation activator.

After pressing, the wine returned to amphora for six months of ageing, and was then bottled with the addition of 25 mg/L SO₂.
No fining or filtration was performed.

Tasting Notes

Delicate and subtle aromatic profile, with earthy notes, wild red fruits and a gentle floral nuance.
On the palate, it shows fine texture, firm acidity, discreet tannins and natural elegance.
A light, serious and pure red, preserving the identity of Trás-os-Montes.
