Producer

One of the most sublime family domaines of all time remains quietly under the radar in Piedmont — its immense value still largely undiscovered by even the most seasoned connoisseurs. Founded in 1928 in the heart of Castiglione Falletto, the cradle of restrained power where intensity is expressed without weight and elegance lingers for eternity, the Cavallotto family crafts timeless, authentic Barolos in the region’s most traditional and faithful style.

In the words of renowned critic Antonio Galloni:
"Cavallotto may very well be the greatest Barolo producer most people have never heard of."

Wine

Bricco Boschis 2020 is a classic, profound Barolo crafted from the historic family vineyards of Cavallotto. The MGA Bricco Boschis — one of Castiglione Falletto’s most revered crus — gives birth to this singular wine, sourced from the Colle Sudovest and Punta Marcello parcels, both planted in 1971, covering 6.23 hectares at 350 m altitude with diverse sun exposures.

The winemaking follows time-honoured tradition: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, followed by extended maceration (20–35 days) in large Slavonian oak casks (botti) using the “cappello semisommerso” method. Ageing takes place in the same botti for 3 to 3.5 years, following the classic rhythm of age-worthy Barolo.

This 2020 vintage shows spectacular balance, noble tannins, and luminous freshness. Aromas of black cherry, dried rose, spice and tobacco lead to a long, mineral-driven finish. A structured, soulful Barolo built to evolve for decades.
