Clair Obscur Bourgogne Aligoté 2021
Bourgogne Blanc AOC | Côte de Beaune, France
Volume: 750 ml

Description
Pierre Clair is one of Burgundy’s true biodynamic masters, with years of experience as “chef de culture” at our Domaine Marquis d’Angerville in Volnay. Together with his wife, they now care for family vineyards under their remarkable natural wine project: Clair Obscur.

Natural in the purest sense — wines full of life, with minimal intervention, from terroirs that may be lesser known but, in the right hands, can rival even the grandest crus. The name also plays with the idea that life is never purely black or white... sometimes balance is found in the grey: Clair Obscur.

Origin & Terroir
This Aligoté comes from two small plots in Corpeau (0.17 ha) and Volnay (0.39 ha), rooted in classic clay-limestone soils. Vines planted in 1982 and 1996 give a balance of freshness and depth.

• Harvest: Manual

Tasting Notes
Vibrant, saline, and highly precise white wine with aromas of citrus, green apple, and fresh herbs. On the palate, it offers tension, firm acidity, and mineral purity. A small-production Aligoté made for the table — pure and unadorned.

Vinified with minimal intervention, this wine reflects Clair Obscur’s commitment to honest expression of terroir and grape — no additives, no corrections, and ultra-low SO₂.
