Coessens Largillier Millésimé 2019
Champagne Extra-Brut | 100% Pinot Noir | Monopole Largillier
About the Producer
Based in Ville-sur-Arce, in the Côte des Bar, Domaine Jérôme Coessens has become a reference point for the new generation of grower-producers in Champagne.
His 3.36-hectare monopole — Largillier — is planted exclusively to Pinot Noir on clay-rich, Kimmeridgian limestone soils, closer in geological character to the great terroirs of Chablis than to most of Champagne.
Certified organic since 2021, the domaine now farms 21 hectares and vinifies with microscopic precision, using Coquard pressing, low temperatures and indigenous yeasts.
The result is a collection of signature champagnes: perfumed, incisive, mineral-driven and long-lived.
The Wine
Millésimé 2019 is made exclusively from Pinot Noir of the Matière sub-parcel within the Largillier monopole.
Vinified in stainless steel with full malolactic fermentation, it ages for around 10 months before tirage and was disgorged in November 2024 with a dosage of 3 g/L.
Tasting Notes
Seductive aromas of red cherry, pear, strawberry, red flowers, orange zest and faint smoky notes.
On the palate, it is deep and expansive, with creamy mousse, great purity and a long, saline finish.
Hints of cacao and fine chocolate emerge with aeration, layered over a fluid, textural core marked by the clay-limestone signature of the terroir.
A Champagne of great nobility and precision.
