Originally from Burgundy, where he worked from Beaune to Nuits-Saint-Georges, he created strong ties with the mythical Christophe Roumier, before charting longer flights to California and New Zealand. On his return, Julien secured the best positioned old vines on 9 hectares situated on the highest hills of three of the most prestigious crus of Beaujolais: Morgon, Fleurie and Régnié. The work of the land is organic and the focus is on expressing the granite profile of its vines in an elegant, almost ethereal way, with a delicate weave of tannins. Beaujolais with a ‘Chambollic’ soul!
"Julien Sunier established his own small domaine in 2008 after a period working with Christophe Roumier in Chambolle-Musigny, and he has quickly emerged as one of the region's rising stars. Committed to organic farming since the beginning, integral fermentation in low-temperature cement vats, followed by an élevage in used Burgundy barrels, are the fundamentals of his approach. The style is delicate, elegant and fragrant, emphasizing grace and charm." William Kelley - Robert Parker
