Description
Once compared by Luis Gutiérrez (Parker) to the “Domaine de la Romanée-Conti of Jerez”, Valdespino is a true guardian of the ancient craft of Sherry. With roots reaching back to 1264, the house remains unyielding in its fidelity to traditional methods and noble terroirs, such as the legendary Pago Miraflores in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
The Coliseo V.O.R.S. is one of the rarest and most profound Amontillados in existence. Aged far beyond the minimum 30 years required for V.O.R.S. status, this wine has been slowly shaped by time, silence and oxidative evolution in a centuries-old solera.
The colour is deep mahogany with green-tinged rims, a signature of extreme age. On the nose, it is explosive and refined, with balsamic notes, candied orange peel, dried dates, noble herbs and fine spices. On the palate, it is intensely concentrated, yet lifted by electric acidity that brings precision and harmony to this monumental wine. The finish is long, almost eternal — a wine that demands attention, reverence and reflection.
99 Points – Robert Parker (Luis Gutiérrez)
"One of the greatest Amontillados in existence today. To be sipped slowly and in tiny quantities."
