Description
Once referred to by Luis Gutiérrez (Robert Parker) as the “Domaine de la Romanée-Conti of Jerez”, Valdespino embodies the soul of Andalusian winemaking tradition — with origins dating back to 1264 and a relentless commitment to authenticity. At the heart of its wines lies the exceptional Macharnudo Alto, considered a “Grand Cru” of Jerez.
The Palo Cortado ‘Viejo C.P.’ V.O.S. is a rare and refined expression, crafted from Palomino Fino grown in Macharnudo Alto. It undergoes an average 25 years of aging and is sourced from select casks that originate in the soleras of Fino Inocente and Amontillado Tío Diego.
The initials “C.P.” stand for Calle Ponce, the historic street where the wine was traditionally aged — a tribute to Valdespino’s heritage and precision.
The colour is aged gold to amber. On the nose, it is deep and layered, with aromas of vanilla, iodine, bitter orange, spices and a saline edge. The palate is dry, elegant and finely balanced, with chalky depth and a long, austere finish that lingers with poise and precision.
Robert Parker – Wine Advocate
"The color is old gold or light amber… sweet vanilla, iodine, bitter oranges and spices. The palate is clean and delineated, subtle and on the elegant side of Palo Cortado, ending very dry."
