Coliseu Douro Branco 2021

Coliseu is a family project that works with its own vineyards from very small plots in the Baixo Corgo do Douro, with the utmost respect for identity and terroir, ensuring that the wines are the best expression of its old vines. The young and vibrant winemaker Hugo Línton has the philosophy “the more we do in the vineyard, the less we have to do in the cellar”, and this is how he expresses the identity of his terroir in each bottle of his tiny production. The identity of the Douro is interpreted here in an intellectual way, with immense character, freshness and the typical pungent minerality of its best houses.

Wine:
Old vines at 240-325 meters, in Baixo Corgo. Lot of 50% Old Vines, 35% Arinto and 15% Viosinho. 46 years for the Old Vines; 19 years for Arinto and 13 years for Viosinho. Aged for 12 months in new barrels (with batonnage) of 300 liters (Portuguese and French oak) and used barrels of 300 liters (Brown). 30% new barrels, 70% used barrels.
