Morgado do Quintão Vinhas Velhas White 2022

The Algarve’s most exciting and authentic wines and the largest collection of old organically grown vines in the region are available at this family farm founded in early 1810 by the 1st Count of Silves. Joana Maçanita and the 4th generation of the family, represented by Filipe Caldas de Vasconcellos, work exclusively with indigenous grape varieties and yeasts, and use ancestral or minimal intervention methods to rediscover the Algarve’s potential. At another historic 12th century farm in Tomar, the family, advised by João Nunes, is just as passionate about recreating the wines created by the Marquise of Tomar in the 19th century.

Wine:
50-year-old vines, hand-picked and aged for 6 months, 50% in neutral barrels and 50% in stainless steel vats. Limited edition of 2,150 bottles.

THE Old Vines White 2022 is a tribute to the wine heritage of Algarve, made from centuries-old vines planted in the sandy and limestone soils of the Serra de Monchique. This dry and elegant white wine is the result of careful work with minimal intervention, which respects the character of the fruit, the natural freshness and the minerality typical of the region.

This white wine from the Algarve has a bright citrus color. On the nose, it offers notes of lemon peel, white peach, orange blossom and wet stone. Fresh on the palate, with good tension, delicate texture and a dry, long finish. Natural Algarve wine at its best.

Contrary to the typical sunny image of the region, this wine is more restrained and refined — a new way of understanding the Algarve.
