ARPEPE GRUMELLO ROCCA DE PIRO VALTELLINA SUPERIORE 2019
- Inventory on the way
- We send it to the whole of Europe
Ar.Pe.Pe. is the acronym of the founder, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego, of this winery jewel in the Valtellina, nestled between the Rhaetian and Orobie Alps, one of the most beautiful and dramatic regions in the world, in northern Lombardy. Heroic viticulture has been practiced on steep granite terraces since the Romans. The fourth generation of the family, the inspired siblings Isabella, Emanuele and Guido, has shown how sensational a great mountain Nebbiolo can be, endowed with pristine purity, supreme elegance, complexity of tertiary aromas, freshness and mineral sapidity.
On the steep slope of Grumello Castle, an ancient fortress of the De Piro family from the 14th century, this elegant and expressive Valtellina Superiore is born, made from Nebbiolo delle Alpi cultivated at altitude. The wine takes its name from the rock itself that dominates the valley and from the Grumello vineyards that belong to Ar.Pe.Pe.
The 2019 harvest produced a Nebbiolo with delicate tannins, which suggested a shorter aging in large oak barrels. The result is a wine that is surprisingly ready to be enjoyed while still young, without sacrificing the depth, aromatic precision and aging potential that characterize the house wines.
