Beaujolais, France – Cru Morgon (Côte du Py)
Grape: 100% Gamay
Plot: Selection of vines on schist and blue stone soils, Côte du Py
Ageing: Foudres and demi-muids
Score: 18 pts – Jancis Robinson

Producer
The tiny Domaine Mee Godard works its old vines (average age 60 years) with a fully terroiriste approach, in unique parcels in the glorious crus of Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, all farmed organically. Far removed from the generic image of Beaujolais as an easy-drinking wine, these are true terroir expressions — ageworthy wines built to thrive for a decade or more. They reflect the region’s magnificent terroirs, today better understood and masterfully interpreted by Mee Godard.

Mee Godard is a rising star in France and internationally, recently named "Star of the Year" by Revue des Vins de France.

Winemaking
“The winemaking is classic: a large proportion of whole clusters are retained and macerations last several weeks, with pump-overs and punch-downs adapted vintage by vintage. Ageing takes place in concrete, foudre, demi-muids and barrels, depending on the cuvée. The resulting wines are pure, elegantly structured and traditionally styled, with the substance to age but also considerable youthful charm.”
William Kelley, Robertparker.com

Tasting Notes
“If wine had sound, this would be a tenor. Resonant, reverberant, with a full timbre — strong and rich without heaviness. Black fruit, graphite, wet tree bark and polished iron. Tannins like wrought iron grilles embedded in the fruit. A dramatic, visceral, architectural wine. Many beautiful years ahead.”

Cuvée Passerelle 577 is Mee Godard’s most personal and ambitious wine, sourced from select plots of schist and blue stone in the legendary Côte du Py. “Passerelle” means footbridge — a reference to Mee’s life journey, having been adopted as a child and later discovering agricultural roots, making her connection to wine deeply emotional and visceral.

This is the denser, more textural and architectural expression of Gamay, with aromas of cassis, graphite, damp bark, forged iron and ripe black fruit. The tannins are deep and finely sculpted, giving this wine great ageing potential — a wine of rare emotional and structural balance.
