Description
Founded in 1612 by Capuchin monks at the base of the Grand Cru Schlossberg hill, Domaine Weinbach is an enduring symbol of Alsatian excellence. Since acquiring the estate in 1898, the Faller family has shaped its legacy through wines of purity, complexity and soul. For over 20 years, they have relied on biodynamic viticulture to express the multifaceted terroirs of this cultural crossroads between France and Germany.
The Gewürztraminer ‘Furstentum’ Grand Cru 2020 is born on the steep, southeast-facing slopes of the renowned Furstentum vineyard, where clay-limestone and sandstone soils — surrounded by unusually Mediterranean flora — provide optimal sunlight exposure and ripening conditions.
Harvested by hand, vinified with native yeasts and aged for 10 months in old neutral oak foudres, this wine captures the noble opulence of Gewürztraminer while preserving balance and finesse. Its off-dry profile is lifted by gentle acidity and a fine mineral thread.
The nose is intensely aromatic: honeysuckle, quince and nutmeg give way to candied orange, rose petals and green anise. The palate is rich, creamy and dense, with freshness and a delicate saline finish that carries the aromatic persistence.
