Description
A benchmark in Alsatian wine since 1612, Domaine Weinbach stands at the base of the revered Schlossberg hill. The Faller family, who acquired the estate in 1898, has shaped its legacy through exceptional wines rooted in purity, structure, and place. Biodynamic farming, practiced for over 20 years, serves as their compass to interpret the region's terroirs with sincerity and clarity.
The Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling 2023 is a pristine and age-worthy expression of Alsace’s most iconic granite terroir. Sourced from vines between 20 and 50 years old, planted on stony, mineral-rich soils with slight acidity and full southern exposure, the wine reflects both power and finesse.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged for 18 months in old large oak foudres, it delivers remarkable mineral purity, elegance and depth. The nose is restrained and refined, with fresh orchard fruit, white flowers and a hint of beeswax. On the palate, it shows vibrant acidity, crystalline texture and a saline, structured finish that echoes its granite origin.
According to Jancis Robinson (MW):
"Very rich, powerful and extremely concentrated, with a grainy and refreshing finish."
