Gerações da Talha Atão, Vàs? Tinto 2024
Alentejo, Portugal
Description
A deeply original and creative talha wine that respects the Alentejo tradition while simultaneously reinventing it. Made with white grapes (100% Antão Vaz), but with the spirit of a red, this wine stems from João's dream to explore an ancient method of passing white wine through the solids of a red wine — a traditional technique used when a talha (clay amphora) was not enough to stand out on its own. The result is a wine with the freshness and aromatic profile of a white, but with subtle tannins and the structure of a light, vibrant red.
Fermented and macerated in a clay talha with all the solid parts of the grape (skins, seeds, and part of the stems) for 4 months, following the ancestral method of Vinho de Talha. After this phase, the wine is transferred to another talha containing Alfrocheiro solids, which serve as a natural filter. Only a minimal dose of sulfites is added at bottling. A genuinely natural and artisanal wine.
