Description
From the oldest known vineyard in the region, planted in 1929 on the hill of Ronc Zegla, this rare white wine is a flagship of Marjan Simcic’s Opoka line, which honors the distinctive mineral character of Collio’s flysch soils.
The grape, Sauvignon Vert, once known as Sauvignonasse and long misidentified as a clone of Sauvignon Blanc, arrived from the Loire in the 17th century and is now deeply rooted in Friuli's identity under the name Friulano.
The 2019 vintage offers a brilliant golden-yellow color with greenish hues, and a refined bouquet of dry herbs, wildflowers and ripe green apple. The palate is textural yet mineral, with subtle vegetal hints and a long finish marked by a characteristic almond-like note. A serious, gastronomic white wine with depth, structure and longevity.
