The Ramilo family has been linked to Colares since the first half of the 19th century. Nuno and his brother Pedro, the 4th generation, were dissatisfied with the direction of this historic wine that lost its luster in the last decades of the century.c.XX, decided to rehabilitate the family's two farms, one on sandy ground in Azenhas do Mar and the other on hard ground in the Lizandro River Valley. Together with winemaker Jorge Mota, they are rescuing the traditions and native grape varieties of this region, which is battered by the cold, salty winds of the ocean. How many great and famous wines in the world age like a Colares or taste like a Colares? And how many Colares like a Ramilo?

Wine:

Castelão varietal. The grapes were hand-picked, carefully selected and destemmed. Fermentation took place in a limestone press, with foot treading. Indigenous yeasts. Less than 20 mg/l of total SO2.

A light-bodied red wine with an Atlantic breeze, where the freshness of the sea meets the delicacy of the earth. On the nose, it reveals notes of wild cherry, pomegranate and dried herbs, with a slight iodine touch that announces its coastal origins. On the palate, it is fluid and vibrant, with fine tannins and a subtle salinity that prolongs the finish with elegance. Light-bodied but firm in soul, this is a wine that is uncomplicated in form and deep in content — made to be drunk with pleasure and attention, like a whisper of the sea in every sip.
