Origin & Concept

Born from the collaboration of two major figures in Portuguese wine — Susana Esteban and Dirk Niepoort — Sem Vergonha 2023 is an exercise in authenticity and boldness.

This wine pays tribute to Castelão (from a nearly 50-year-old vineyard), a variety often undervalued but which, in Susana’s words, “reminds me of Burgundy wines.” The partnership with Dirk — a deep admirer and connoisseur of Burgundy — materialises here in a new-generation Alentejo red: structured, delicate and naturally fresh, grown in the vineyards of Serra de São Mamede.

Tasting Note

Vivid cherry-red colour. The nose reveals intense fresh red-fruit aromas, with ripe cherry taking centre stage. On the palate, it surprises with elegance and balance: soft tannins, refreshing acidity and a fine, delicate structure that makes the wine both approachable and full of character. The finish is long, engaging and deliciously enveloping.

A pure, unmasked red — without shame.
