Description

Established in 1612 by Capuchin monks at the foot of the majestic Schlossberg hill, Domaine Weinbach is a historic and iconic force in Alsatian wine.

Since 1898, the Faller family has brought this extraordinary property to international acclaim, guided by a deep respect for nature and terroir. For over 20 years, they have practiced biodynamic viticulture, using it as a precise and conscious tool to interpret the complexity of Alsace’s singular landscapes — at the crossroads of France and Germany.

The Clos des Capucins Pinot Noir 2023 is a rare expression of delicacy and concentration, capturing the secret beauty of Alsace’s red wines. Sourced from old vines planted on silty-clay sand over granitic gravel in the estate’s monopole vineyard, the wine benefits from early and even ripening, which contributes to its aromatic precision and structural depth.

Vinification is meticulous:

  • 20% whole cluster

  • One week of cold pre-fermentation maceration

  • Two weeks of classic maceration with native yeasts

  • Natural malolactic fermentation

  • 14 months aging in used 228L barrels and large foudres

On the nose: red berries and black cherries. The palate is supple, juicy, and polished, with silky tannins, refreshing texture, and a persistent, voluminous finish. A precise and captivating Pinot Noir.
