━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Producer

Ar.Pe.Pe. — named after founder Arturo Pelizzatti Perego — is one of the jewels of Valtellina winemaking, nestled between the Rhaetian and Orobie Alps, one of the world’s most stunning and dramatic landscapes in northern Lombardy. True heroic viticulture is practiced here on steep granite terraces carved since Roman times. The fourth generation — inspired siblings Isabella, Emanuele, and Guido — continues to show how magnificent true mountain Nebbiolo can be: pure, supremely elegant, with complex tertiary aromas, fresh acidity and a distinctive mineral sapidity.

Description

From the steep slopes of Castel Grumello — a 14th-century fortress of the De Piro family — comes this elegant, expressive Valtellina Superiore, made from high-altitude Alpine Nebbiolo. The wine takes its name from the rock that dominates the valley and the Grumello vineyards owned by Ar.Pe.Pe.

The 2019 vintage yielded a Nebbiolo with particularly delicate tannins, leading to a shorter ageing period in large oak casks. The result is a wine surprisingly approachable in its youth, yet with the depth, aromatic precision, and ageing potential that define the house style.
