Viticulture & Terroir
The grapes come from 30-year-old organically farmed vines, located at 350 metres on granitic soils in the Amarante sub-region. Harvesting was manual, carried out in October, and the fruit was carefully destemmed on arrival at the winery.
Winemaking
Luar Rosa is produced through separate vinification of each variety.
After destemming, the grapes underwent three weeks of skin-contact maceration in talhas (clay amphorae). During this process, ground chestnut flowers were added to support natural stabilisation.
The red varieties (Borraçal and Alvarelhão) fermented in talha, while Azal fermented in stainless steel.
Fermentation was spontaneous at 15ºC, with complete malolactic fermentation.
The final blend was assembled in January, followed by bottling in February with the addition of 25 mg/L SO₂.
Tasting Notes
Fresh aromas of red berries, hibiscus and pomegranate, with a subtle earthy and mineral undertone.
On the palate, it is dry and light, with a subtle texture and a tense, vibrant acidity.
A natural rosé that is honest and expressive, retaining the wild character of the region’s local red varieties.
