Clair Obscur Bourgogne "Saint Martin" 2022
Bourgogne Rouge | Santenay, Côte de Beaune – Burgundy
Volume: 750 ml

Description
Pierre Clair is one of Burgundy’s biodynamic masters, with years of experience as “chef de culture” at our Domaine Marquis d’Angerville in Volnay. Together with his wife, they now steward family vineyards under the phenomenal natural project Clair Obscur.
“Natural” here is true to its meaning — wines with maximum life and minimum intervention, crafted from lesser-known terroirs that, in the right hands, can rival the region’s most celebrated crus. The name Clair Obscur reflects life’s many shades — nothing is purely black or white.

Origin & Terroir
From a single 0.90 ha parcel in Santenay, planted in 1980 on classic Côte de Beaune clay-limestone soils. Well-draining, with ideal exposure for slow, balanced ripening of Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes
A pure, earthy Bourgogne Rouge. Subtle and inviting aromas of wild cherry, gentle spice and dried leaves. The palate is fluid, fresh and precise, with fine tannins and a mineral texture. An elegant wine, true to the spirit of Santenay, with authentic Burgundian character.

Style & Philosophy
Clair Obscur is rooted in minimal intervention — allowing grape and terroir to speak. No sulphites added during vinification, 100% whole bunches, bringing structure, vibrancy and a more vivid, wild profile.
