The maxim that “the best wines are born in the vineyard” is inexorable, and it was no coincidence that Largillier, Jérôme Coessens’ iconic vineyard, was chosen to feed one of the most sought-after “cult wines” in the world, Guillaume Selosse’s Champagne. Our Coessens is a small grower from the Côte des Bar, in the south of Champagne, exclusively dedicated to Pinot Noir planted in Largillier, where the family has been around for more than 5 generations, and which shares the same limestone soil profile from the Kimmeridgian period found in the best grand crus of Chablis.
Wine:
Exclusively from the Largillier monopoly, a 100% Pinot Noir from a single year. The MATIÈRE sub-plot that is selected to create this wine.
The attack is long and fluid. After aeration, there are pleasant notes of cocoa and fine chocolate and hints of ripe fruit. The finish is wonderfully saline.
The attack is full (due to the KM2 clay), mineral and refreshing, with a long finish (due to the limestone).
