Coliseu is a family project that works with its own vineyards from very small plots in the Baixo Corgo do Douro, with the utmost respect for identity and terroir, ensuring that the wines are the best expression of its old vines. The young and vibrant winemaker Hugo Línton has the philosophy “the more we do in the vineyard, the less we have to do in the cellar”, and this is how he expresses the identity of his terroir in each bottle of his tiny production. The identity of the Douro is interpreted here in an intellectual way, with immense character, freshness and the typical pungent minerality of its best houses.

Wine:
50% Arinto and 50% Viosinho affected by noble rot (Brotrytis Cinerea). The harvest began on September 1st and ended on September 25th for the dry wines. Fermentation in barrels and continued aging in the same container for 28 months (30% new barrels, 70% used barrels). Total acidity of 8.4 g/l.

The nose is fresh, fruity, finely closed and offers freshness, intensity and complexity. There are notes of tangerine and candied peach and flowers, and more lightly fresh berries combined with touches of fresh/candied citrus, as well as fine notes of zest, a discreet touch of verbena, spices and a subtle touch of almond. On the palate this wine expresses notes of candied lemon, candied kumquat and more, a hint of candied tangerine with notes of fresh/juicy/finely acidic berries, as well as touches of spicy (almost salty) minerality. A wine with a gastronomic profile that finishes seductively and with enormous persistence.
