Incógnito 2023

100% Syrah
Certified Organic

In 1998, this wine was born as an act of rebellion — at a time when Syrah was not even permitted in Alentejo. Today, Incógnito is a Portuguese icon, and the 2023 vintage marks its 17th release with the beginning of a new chapter.

For the first time, the wine is entirely produced under biodynamic practices and fully informed by the terroir study conducted with Pedro Parra. The result is a new level of finesse, precision and vitality.

Sourced from silty-sandy limestone soils under organic and regenerative farming, this edition reflects a year defined by generous winter water reserves and a moderate summer, allowing for natural concentration and remarkable balance.

Ageing

12 months in used 500 L French oak barrels, followed by 8 months in stainless steel. This is the first vintage since the introduction of biodynamic practices in the Cortes de Cima vineyards and the first to fully benefit from the terroir studies conducted with Pedro Parra in 2022.

Tasting Notes

Deep layers of aromas of fresh wild berries and cherries, interwoven with sweet spices, fresh tobacco leaf, sage, graphite and black pepper. On the palate, vibrant and silky fruit wraps around precise, limestone-driven tannins. High acidity energises the wine, leading to a long, mineral finish with notes of talcum powder.
