Description
In the prestigious Cambeses area of Monção, cousins Sara and Pedro Covas continue a long family tradition of crafting classic Vinho Verde, with a focus on the expressive potential of Alvarinho. Every decision in the vineyard, cellar, and presentation reflects their care and dedication. Production remains extremely limited — just 15,000 bottles per year — passionately defended by the family and the terroir-driven team at Temple Wines.

Cortinha Velha Alvarinho Reserva 2022 is a white wine produced from hand-harvested grapes in the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço, the true birthplace of Alvarinho. The vines, averaging 22 years of age, thrive on granite soils that impart their hallmark minerality and vibrant freshness.

Vinification
Meticulous winemaking: total destemming, cold maceration (4–6 hours), gentle vertical pressing, fermentation in stainless steel, and 16 months aging on lees with occasional bâtonnage. The wine is aged an additional 3 months in bottle before release.

Tasting Notes
Brilliant appearance with a delicate pale lemon hue. On the nose, subtle aromas of fresh lemon and orange blossom. The palate is driven by firm acidity, creamy structure, marked mineral profile, and a long, elegant finish — a classic expression of Alvarinho.
