━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Description
In the prestigious Cambeses area of Monção, cousins Sara and Pedro Covas are continuing the multi-generational tradition of crafting classic Vinho Verde wines, with a special focus on the expressive potential of Alvarinho. Their meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard, winery, and presentation is evident in every bottle from this small family estate — with a total annual production of just 15,000 bottles, passionately represented by Temple Wines’ terroir-driven team.
Cortinha Velha Alvarinho Sobre Lias 2022 is a limited-edition wine that showcases the depth achievable when Alvarinho is vinified with patience, precision, and respect for fruit purity. Described as a "liquid mille-feuille", it is a wine of subtle layers, where time and silence replace technical intervention.
After full destemming and gentle direct pressing, the must undergoes fermentation in stainless steel, where it rests for 12 months on its full lees, without bâtonnage. The result is a dense, restrained Alvarinho with firm structure, precise acidity, and a creamy texture that slowly evolves in the glass.
Produced in small quantities, this is a contemplative wine with impressive aging potential.

Tasting Notes
Subtle nose with notes of lime, white peach, and a hint of gunflint. On the palate, it stands out for its tension, enveloping texture, and saline, vertical finish. A serious and profound Alvarinho, ideal for gastronomy and cellaring.
