Description
Croft Vintage Port 2000 perfectly captures the unmistakable signature of this historic Port house: a seductive style, rich in ripe fruit, with silky tannins and a velvety texture. Produced from exceptional vineyards in the Douro Valley — most notably the Quinta da Roêda — this Vintage Port shows all the generosity of the outstanding 2000 vintage, a year widely declared by the great houses. Much more than a fortified wine for celebration.
Croft’s style is widely recognised for its seductive texture and intensely aromatic character. Quinta da Roêda, nestled on the slopes of the Cima Corgo, is the soul of this wine — providing grapes of tremendous concentration and elegance.
A Vintage Port ready to drink! The 2000 already shows aromatic openness and an impressive balance between structure and immediate pleasure, but can also continue to evolve beautifully for another 15–20 years.
The 2000 harvest was exceptional in the Douro, with perfect ripening conditions. This wine is living proof — awarded 95 points by Decanter and highly praised by international critics.

95 Points – Decanter
“Founded in 1588, Croft claims the distinction of being the longest-established company still involved in Port production. Given the ideal ripening conditions during August and September 2000, a week of light rain in mid-September rounded off a great vintage, resulting in a wine of intense colour, attractive aromas and full body."
RM: “Withdrawn on the nose, underlying ripe minty fruit and a touch of gum cistus; tight-knit, spicy berry fruit with firm tannins leading to a long, gripping finish. A lovely wine.”
SJ: “Spicy, minty and floral nose. Sweet and sour palate, rich and savoury. Well-judged acidity keeps the wine attractively balanced. So much potential: a keeper that will reward.”
DW: “Youthful, tensioned and taut. Plenty of nascent fruit plumpness despite the tannic gristle – needs more slumber.”
This acclaim reinforces the longevity and depth of this evolving, classic Vintage Port.
