Overview
A domaine of relatively recent renown, Domaine de la Vougeraie has swiftly earned a cult following in the world of collectible wines, garnering stratospheric scores and accolades as a rising star of Burgundy. Respect for terroir is at the core of their philosophy, demonstrated by more than 20 years of biodynamic farming, introduced by Pascal Marchand and continued with Pierre Vincent (now at Domaine Leflaive), who brought a style of ethereal finesse and purity of fruit — a vision now carried forward by Sylvie Poillot. The domaine’s vineyard holdings are impressive, particularly Clos Blanc de Vougeot, hailed by Jasper Morris MW as the finest white wine of the Côte de Nuits.

Wine
Clos Blanc de Vougeot is a legendary vineyard whose origins trace back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks planted it to produce their mass wine. Today, this rare monopole — an island of Chardonnay amidst the Pinot Noir vines of Vougeot — continues to express a singular identity. The 2022 vintage offers aromas of ripe white apple, subtle spices, and a vibrant, enduring minerality. The structure is elegant and firm, with a long, refreshing finish.

Viticulture & Vinification
• Certified Organic (Ecocert® since 1999), Biodynamic since 2001
• Location: Vougeot, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy
• Vineyard: 3.0495 ha, east-facing, planted between 1983 and 2015
• Soils: Highly calcareous ("terre blanche") with probable clay-limestone components
• Harvest: Handpicked on September 3rd, 5th, and 6th, 2022 (leaf and fruit days)
• Pressing: Whole bunch pneumatic pressing, 2h30
• Fermentation: Begins in stainless steel, finishes in barrels
• Ageing: 16 months in oak barrels (20% new) + 2 months in stainless steel
• Batonnage: Once a month during waxing moon until December
