The Girauds have called Meursault home since 1850, and the Latours since the 17th century. That’s long enough for the small 11-hectare Domaine to acquire some of the region’s finest terroirs, all of which are cultivated organically. In times of scarcity in Burgundy, the producer granted us the allocation of just one of his cuvées, but a very special one: his Meursault Charles Maxime, which in 2021 was upgraded by incorporating the 1er Crus Perrières, Bouchères and Porusots, due to its tiny yields. Jasper Morris gave this modern Meursault classic a high score of 92-95. Very few bottles.

"Some ripe citrus on the nose, with a terrific intensity of fruit, now including crunchy fresh apples, along with the light citrus wash, and excellent persistence. The finish is really quite nuanced, hence the expected bottling decision which will be a little earlier than usual. Indeed, a really lovely aftertaste."

THE Bourgogne Blanc 2022 of Domaine Latour-Giraud is an elegant and precise white wine, which surpasses in complexity many higher denominations. Produced from vineyards located around the village of Meursault, authentically reflects the savoir-faire of the domaine, known for its excellent whites.

Fermented with indigenous yeasts and partially aged in French oak barrels (with a controlled percentage of new wood), this Chardonnay reveals a clear identity: mineral freshness, creamy texture and exemplary balance. The 2022 is particularly expressive, with juicy fruit and linear tension, the result of a sunny year but with good water reserves.

An ideal wine for both an introduction to the classic Burgundian style and for connoisseurs looking for quality and finesse at a more affordable price.
