The Girauds have called Meursault home since 1850, and the Latours since the 17th century. This has been enough time for the small 11-hectare domaine to acquire some of the best terroirs in the region, all of which are cultivated organically. In times of scarcity in Burgundy, the producer has granted us the allocation of just one of his cuvées, but a very special one: his Meursault Charles Maxime, which in 2021 has been upgraded to include the 1er Crus Perrières, Bouchères and Porusots, due to its tiny yields.
Jasper Morris: "very true to its Meursault roots. The white fruit continues on the palate and is now joined by a saline note, while the ripe apples give an immediate appeal. There are little waves of flavor towards the back of the palate. Once again the aftertaste is fine, precise and thoroughly promising."
