Domaine Pierrick Bouley Volnay 2022
Côte de Beaune — Burgundy, France

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Producer
Volnay delivers a celestial elegance in its wines — always built on finesse and the beauty of delicate fruit (the Chambolle-Musigny of the south). In our quest for wines of this expression, still at (relatively) accessible prices, there is no better source than another specialist grower with deep local roots — since our d’Angerville bottlings are constantly sold out.

Pierrick Bouley, sixth-generation vigneron, works biodynamically with vines averaging 60 years old, proudly declaring: “I am a vigneron before an oenologist.” No additions or manipulations in his winemaking — no sulfites added until bottling.

Description
Pierrick Bouley’s Volnay 2022 is a celebration of classic Burgundian elegance. Sourced from seven distinct parcels — Gigotte, Grands Champs, Paquier, Luret, Échards, Pluchots, and Chanlins — totaling 2.5 hectares, the wine captures the complexity of south- and southeast-facing slopes with clay, silt, and clay-limestone soils.

Since 2016, the vinification has been carried out without the addition of sulfites at the initial phase, prioritizing aromatic purity and precise terroir expression. Spontaneous fermentation is monitored carefully for density and temperature, followed by 12 months’ ageing in oak barrels with a light touch of SO₂ added at bottling.

This is a Volnay of great finesse, softness, and seductive aromatics, expressing Bouley’s artisanal sensitivity with Pinot Noir.
