Mentions of minerality and salinity have become almost cliché in the wine world. However, at this Chablis estate, such concepts are revitalised, energised and brought to their fullest expression through the intellectual interpretation of the new generation of siblings now leading Domaine Roland Lavantureux. Among the many secrets behind their success, the domaine’s old vines stand out for their remarkable ability to transform the challenges of recent warmer vintages into pure freshness and liquid terroir.

Wine
A Chablis that clearly and precisely expresses the region’s mineral identity. Sourced from vineyards farmed under lutte raisonnée principles, this Chardonnay is grown on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils. Fermentation and ageing take place partly in stainless steel and partly in neutral oak, giving depth without sacrificing freshness.
On the palate, it is incisive, with vibrant acidity and a finish marked by salinity and pure citrus notes. Perfect with oysters, grilled fish, and roasted poultry. An elegant and direct expression of Chablis terroir, crafted with precision by brothers Arnaud and David Lavantureux.

Tasting Notes
The 2022 Chablis Village shows a more restrained yet refreshingly energetic bouquet of green apple and fresh lime. The palate is well-balanced, with subtle reduction and good depth for its class. It offers taut acidity, with hints of walnut and chai spice on the finish — a finely crafted Chablis Village with ageing potential.
Score: Vinous 90 pts
