Mentions of minerality and salinity are often overused in today’s wine world. But here, at this Chablis estate, such concepts are revitalised, energised and brought to their purest expression by the intellectual interpretation of the new generation of siblings at Domaine Roland Lavantureux. Among the many secrets behind their success, the estate’s old vines stand out for their extraordinary ability to transform the challenges of recent warmer vintages into freshness and liquid terroir.

Wine
A steeply sloped Premier Cru Chablis vineyard with an east-facing exposure and Kimmeridgian limestone soil — ‘Vau de Vey’ is one of the coolest, most mineral sites in the appellation. Once considered difficult to farm, part of this site had previously been sold by Roland Lavantureux. Decades later, his sons Arnaud and David Lavantureux reclaimed the most promising hectare and restored its glory.
The 2022 Chablis Vau de Vey delivers the salinity and purity that define the finest wines of this region. Farmed under lutte raisonnée principles and crafted with precision, it captures all the tension and minerality that purists seek in a great Premier Cru Burgundy.
