Marjan Simcic Chardonnay Opoka 'Jordano' raw 2021
- Inventory on the way
- We send it to the whole of Europe
Marjan “was key to the success of the Goriška Brda region” when, at the age of 20, he took over the family winery that had been in operation since 1860 and “changed the profile of the region and elevated it to the top nationally and internationally”, according to Decanter magazine. Brda has the privilege of a fantastic terroir, where the Alps meet the Mediterranean, with soils of limestone marl flysch, the famous Opoka. Marjan is a force of nature, and with organically grown grapes, he creates wines of immense authenticity and minerality, absolutely unmissable for terroir explorers.
Marjan Simčič Chardonnay Opoka 'Jordano' Cru 2021
Brda, Slovenia
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
This exceptional Chardonnay comes from the highest area of the Jordan Raw, a vineyard planted there 54 years old, with exposure to northwest and soils of marl, shale and sandstone (opoka) — terroir of choice in the Brda region. Fermentation and aging take place in conical oak barrels, which adds depth and elegance without masking the fruit profile.
In the glass, it is presented crystalline, golden and luminous, with a seductive nose where aromas of lemon blossoms, white peach and yellow plum, wrapped in a subtle and harmonious creamy note.
In the mouth, it stands out for its intense fruit (apple, lemon, white flower), lively acidity and precision. The finish is long, mineral and graceful, with great purity and freshness.
A white fine, deep and sophisticated, which rivals great Chardonnays of any origin.
