The vines are, on average, 25 years old. Schist also makes up the bedrock in this emblematic place, but it is thicker (up to 80cm) and the slopes are less steep than the Coulée, and oriented towards the east.
Producer:
The most iconic producer in the Loire Valley? In addition to being one of the greatest figures and the great herald of biodynamic wine, Nicolas Joly is the curator of the magical Coulée de Serrant vineyard. Part of the mystique of this historic estate is the fact that its vines were planted by Cistercian monks in 1130 and have never stopped producing since. The distinctive mesoclimate on the banks of the Loire, the old vines on schist soils and the mystical energy of this site are always expressed in a strong way through the noble Chenin Blanc grape variety.
