Domaine Morey-Coffinet Chassagne-Montrachet 2023 | Burgundy – Temple Wines

Description

Domaine Morey-Coffinet

Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaine Morey-Coffinet is today an essential reference of the Côte de Beaune. Under the direction of Thibault Morey, the domaine upholds a clear philosophy: placing terroir at the center, through demanding organic viticulture, practices inspired by biodynamics, and a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. The wines stand out for their precision, the mineral expression of clay-limestone soils, and a remarkable ability to evolve in bottle, revealing ever greater depth with time.

The Wine

The Chassagne-Montrachet Village from Domaine Morey-Coffinet is a rigorous and honest interpretation of the appellation, built from parcels on the lower slopes with varied exposures and well-structured clay-limestone soils.

The vines, planted between 1960 and 2012, offer a natural balance between ripeness and freshness. Thibault Morey’s approach prioritizes direct expression of terroir: hand harvesting, unembellished vinification, and carefully calibrated aging, where oak supports without dominating.

The result is a Chardonnay with a precise, mineral-driven profile, fine texture, subtle tension, and an evolution in bottle that gradually reveals greater aromatic depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes

Bright pale yellow in color. On the nose, notes of fresh apple, ripe pear, delicate citrus, and a clearly defined limestone backbone. On the palate, it is balanced, with firm acidity, an enveloping texture, and a long finish marked by salinity and elegance. A classic, restrained, and deeply gastronomic Chassagne-Montrachet.
