Description
Founded in 1612 by Capuchin monks at the foot of the Grand Cru Schlossberg, Domaine Weinbach has long stood as a pillar of excellence in Alsace. The Faller family, owners since 1898, has shaped the identity of this iconic domaine through wines that are both deeply expressive and uncompromisingly pure. For over 20 years, biodynamic viticulture has served as their lens to interpret the region’s intricate terroirs with integrity and precision.
The Cuvée Colette 2019 is one of the estate’s most elegant and dense Rieslings, sourced from over 40-year-old vines planted on mineral-rich granite soils at the base of the Schlossberg slope. This site provides both structure and finesse, contributing to the wine’s profound aromatic clarity and layered depth.
Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged for 14 months in old neutral oak foudres, the wine offers vibrant acidity and crystalline minerality. Its tension and density are beautifully interwoven, resulting in a wine that is both refined and full of energy.
According to Jancis Robinson:
"Delicate, luminous bouquet of white fruits and ancient granite. Elegant and charming on the palate, with fine bitterness and stimulating salinity. Intense, yet still a bit angular."
