Domaine Weinbach — Riesling Cuvée Théo 2023
James Suckling: 94/100
Highlighted for its aromas of honeycomb, stone, and citrus, with a balanced, medium-bodied palate and a long, pure, and precise finish, underscoring the wine’s biodynamic character.
Description
Sourced from parcels located within the mythical Clos des Capucins, Riesling Cuvée Théo 2023 stands as an exemplary expression of the mineral elegance of Alsace Riesling, in a dry, precise, and energetic style. The vines are rooted in silty-clay sandy soils over granite pebbles, which favor balanced ripening and lend the wine tension, aromatic definition, and structural clarity.
Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, followed by aging of around 10 months in old foudres, preserving fruit purity and a faithful reading of the terroir. On the nose, notes of white flowers, fresh citrus, and wet stone emerge. On the palate, it is vibrant and direct, with crisp green apple, juicy acidity, and fine minerality that carries through to a clean, persistent finish.
The 2023 vintage, marked by balance and precision, has produced a wine of great clarity and elegance, widely recognized by international critics.
