Quinta da Sabordela — Douro Reserva Branco 2021

Context

Quinta da Sabordela Douro Reserva Branco 2021 is a wine of altitude and precision, faithful to the identity of the Douro when interpreted with restraint and rigor. Sourced from schist soils and produced from Arinto, Viosinho, and Códega do Larinho, it combines natural freshness, marked minerality, and a very balanced use of oak, resulting in a deep, elegant wine with excellent aging potential.

Terroir

Region: Douro
Classification: DOC Douro
Soil: Schist
Yield: 3,300 kg/ha

Low yields and schist soils contribute to the wine’s concentration, tension, and mineral character.

Grape Varieties

Arinto
Viosinho
Códega do Larinho

Vinification

The harvest is carried out manually, in 15 kg boxes.
The grapes are whole-bunch pressed, followed by must clarification.
Fermentation and aging take place in used 500-liter French oak barrels, allowing gentle oxygenation and elegant integration of the wood, without excessively marking the aromatic profile.

Tasting Notes

Greenish-yellow in color. On the nose, clear notes of citrus emerge, alongside a strong mineral expression, fine spices, and a light, elegant toast. On the palate, it is vibrant and fresh, with very well-defined acidity, balanced texture, and a long, precise, mineral-driven finish.

Pairings

Excellent with:

  • vegetarian cuisine

  • grilled fish or delicately prepared fish dishes

  • Asian cuisine

  • goat cheese
