Valdespino Palo Cortado Cardenal VORS is simply stratospheric. There is terroir in Jerez, and it comes from the magnificent Macharnudo Alto vineyard. Cardenal is made up of the finest wines from the barrels of the ninth criadera  of the soleras  of the beautiful Fino Inocente and the fantastic Amontillado Tio Diego, which are fortified at 18° alcohol  to interrupt the flower development.  This blend goes into the historic solera of Palo Cortado Viejo CP (Calle Ponce) for further aging and is bottled as VORS (Vinum Optimum Rare Signatum (or Very Old Rare Sherry)), meaning it is at least 30 years old by legal terms, although in reality it is estimated to be around 50-60 years old.

Producer:
Once compared by Spanish critic Luis Gutierrez (Parker) to the “Domaine de la Romanée-Conti de Jerez”, the Valdespino house delivers what we expect from a producer at the top of the hierarchy of the magical Andalusian region: fabulous vineyards in the “grand cru” Macharnudo, a long history and uncompromising respect for tradition. The Valdespino family’s winemaking saga dates back to 1264, and this house makes no compromises in delivering the best and most traditional Jerez wines, in all their unsurpassed range of styles and emotions.
