Domaine Morey-Coffinet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets 2023 | Burgundy – Temple Wines

Description

Domaine Morey-Coffinet

Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaine Morey-Coffinet is today an essential reference of the Côte de Beaune. Under the direction of Thibault Morey, the domaine upholds a clear philosophy: placing terroir at the center, through demanding organic viticulture, practices inspired by biodynamics, and a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. The wines stand out for their precision, the mineral expression of clay-limestone soils, and a remarkable ability to evolve in bottle, revealing ever greater depth with time.

The Wine

Les Caillerets is one of the most highly regarded Premier Crus of Chassagne-Montrachet, often associated with wines of great finesse, tension, and mineral precision. Situated on a hillside with southeast exposure, this parcel benefits from progressive, balanced ripening, favoring an elegant expression of Chardonnay.

The clay-limestone soils with marl presence give the wine a firm structure, combined with a very pure reading of the terroir. At Domaine Morey-Coffinet, the approach prioritizes absolute respect for the identity of the parcel, with certified organic viticulture and a vinification designed to accompany — not dominate — the raw material.

Extended aging in barrels of different sizes and origins contributes to aromatic complexity and aging potential, while always preserving the freshness and energy that define Les Caillerets.

Tasting Notes

Fine aromas of citrus, green apple, white flowers, and wet stone. On the palate, it is precise and taut, with elegant texture, well-integrated acidity, and a long, mineral, subtly saline finish. A wine of great definition and balance.
