Historic 12th century estate in Tomar, ANUNCIADA VELHA, Filipe and his wife Teresa (also owners of Morgado do Quintão), advised by winemaker João Nunes, recover with the same emotion the surprising wines created by the Marquesa de Tomar in the 19th century, in clay-limestone soils.

Anunciada Velha Tinto 2021 is a wine that reflects a minimal intervention approach and a deep connection to the place. Produced exclusively with Castelão, from vineyards harvested on September 12th and 13th, 2021, the harvest was done by hand and in small boxes, respecting the integrity of the grapes.

The grapes were destemmed but not crushed, and were macerated whole for 72 hours, after which they fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts—a process that began 36 hours after harvest. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occurred directly in used 225-liter barrels, giving the wine texture, smoothness, and depth.

True to the natural and artisanal spirit of the project, the wine was not subjected to fining or stabilizing filtration, preserving all its original expression.

Tasting Notes
With a light ruby hue, it presents a delicate aromatic profile, with notes of wild cherry, wet earth and light spice. The palate is elegant, with fine acidity and soft tannins, showing the versatility and freshness of Castelão. A wine more about elegance than extraction, with a light structure and excellent gastronomic capacity.
