Domaine Taupenot-Merme – Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022
Burgundy, France | Côte de Nuits – Grand Cru
Under the attentive guidance of Romain Taupenot, representative of the seventh generation of the family, the sovereign parcels of Domaine Taupenot-Merme have been farmed according to organic principles since 2001. The house style favors an absolutely transparent reading of terroir, with no concessions to excessive new oak or to any oenological artifice that might divert the wine from its essence: firm, vibrant, and marked by fruit of great purity.
Quality is achieved through a deeply terroir-driven, rigorous, and respectful approach, at a small domaine based in Morey-Saint-Denis, now widely recognized among the great names of the Côte de Nuits.
Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 is one of the great jewels of Romain Taupenot’s portfolio. It comes from a parcel of just 0.9 hectares, planted in 1959, with old vines located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, on the classic clay-limestone soils of the appellation.
Vinification is precise and restrained, privileging the natural elegance of the terroir. The wine combines intensity of fruit, freshness, and remarkable mineral finesse, with structure and depth sufficient for long aging in the cellar.
Tasting Note – Jasper Morris (95–97 points)
Bright mid purple. The bouquet has a little crunchier fruit than Les Charmes. Quite detailed, fresh red berries with some riper elements too. There is a greater intensity of fruit, more raspberry compared to the Charmes strawberry, with ripe cherries at the seamless finish. A beautiful wine in the making.

Vinification
The grapes are fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks for 8 to 13 days. Extraction is delicate and rigorously controlled, through gentle punch-downs and pump-overs. Aging takes place over 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak. Bottling is carried out without fining and only rarely filtered.
