Description
An absolute highlight of Montalcino in the spectacular The Sommelier’s Atlas of Taste by renowned sommelier Rajat Parr, Le Ragnaie is now one of the most revered producers of the appellation.
Unlike many modern Brunellos with overripe fruit and overt oak, Le Ragnaie wines are — in Parr’s words — “classic, charming, elegant, and focused on red fruit.”
The secret? Organically farmed vineyards at high altitudes — including the highest site in Montalcino — and a fully traditional winemaking process, with fermentation in concrete and long ageing in large Slovenian oak casks.

Vinification & Ageing
• Grape: 100% Sangiovese
• Vineyard: sandstone plateau at 621 metres — the highest in the DOCG
• Planting: 2012 (bush vines)
• Fermentation: wild yeasts, in concrete tanks
• Ageing: 3 years in 32 hl Slovenian oak casks
• Production: only 4,400 bottles

Tasting Notes
A Brunello that literally touches the sky: an elegant and direct bouquet of vibrant red fruit, cranberry, pressed rose petals, and wildflowers. On the palate, refined and polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long finish with mineral and saline character.
A wine defined by its freshness, verticality, and capacity for ageing. A new reference among high-altitude Brunellos.
