Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC — Piemonte, Italy

Producer
"One of my favourite Barolos. Harmonious, complete, and complex. They do not aim to be ‘modern’ or ‘traditional’, they simply seek to express the terroir." — Pedro Parra, the world’s leading terroir expert, beautifully captures the essence of Marco Marengo’s wines.
Marco, a trained biochemist, was called back by his father Mario to take over the tiny family cellar in La Morra, working with plots in some of the finest Barolo crus. Everything remains fully handcrafted by Marco, his wife Jenny, and their son Stefano — much to the delight of hardcore Barolo fans.

Wine
Marco Marengo’s Nebbiolo d’Alba 'Vignamaggiore' 2022 is a red wine of rare elegance and precision, sourced from a single southeast-facing vineyard in Canale, Roero. The sandy, fossil-rich soils allow for a refined expression of Nebbiolo, marked by verticality, freshness, and precision.
The winemaking philosophy is low-intervention: indigenous yeast fermentation, an 8-day maceration with gentle remontage, followed by 12 months in second-use French oak and 6 months resting in stainless steel. The wine is bottled unfiltered to preserve purity and terroir expression.
An accessible and earlier-drinking alternative to classic Barolo, this Nebbiolo d’Alba carries the grape’s signature aromatic profile, with fine tannins and a defined structure.
