Producer
Luís Lopes is one of Portugal’s most talented winemakers. Still in his youthful prime, he already boasts a rare depth of vineyard, cellar, and tasting experience. From Comte Lafon in Burgundy, to nearly a decade shaping the classic wines of Quinta da Pellada, through vintages in New Zealand and a wide range of projects like Alvear in Extremadura, Spain — Luís always exceeds expectations. His personal project, Moreish, reveals his most spontaneous side: wines as surprising in grape variety and technique as they are delicious, always leaving you wanting more.

Description
Moreish Común + x - 2022 comes from a vineyard planted in 2016 on a hillside with mixed soils — clay with pebbles at the base, and clay-limestone so chalky at the top it whitens your hands. The Garnacha (locally called Común) thrives in the region’s extreme conditions, ripening slowly while retaining excellent pH and acidity balance.
The grapes were fully destemmed but not crushed, fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts. The wine aged for 24 months in used 500L French oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, with minimal sulfur added — straight from barrel.
Vinified and bottled at the source (Bodega Palacio Quemado, where Luís consults), this is an honest, vibrant red, expressing the land that bore it.
