NV Coessens Blanc de Noirs Les Riceys “Pinotmaniac”
Champagne Extra Brut | 100% Pinot Noir | Côte des Bars
Region & Producer
Producer: Jérôme Coessens
Region: Côte des Bars, Les Riceys – Champagne, France
Classification: Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs
Certification: Certified organic farming (since 2021)
Score: 90 pts – Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Coessens has become one of the most compelling voices of the Côte des Bars, working exclusively with Pinot Noir and championing the geological identity of Kimmeridgian limestone, closer to Chablis than to most of Champagne.
The domaine farms 6.5 ha of its own vines and an additional 15 ha under long-term contract, with no herbicides used since 2010 and a clear regenerative approach.
Winemaking & Style
A new cuvée in the Coessens portfolio, Pinotmaniac is a vibrant, accessible expression of Pinot Noir from Les Riceys, vinified entirely from the 2022 harvest.
It comes from four selected parcels cultivated under long-term agreements.
Winemaking:
• Stainless-steel fermentation at low temperature
• 9–10 months of élevage
• Full malolactic fermentation
• Disgorged: November 2024
• Dosage: 2 g/L
• Sulphites: Only at pressing and disgorgement
Tasting Notes
Expressive aromas of cherry, orange zest and plum lead to a medium- to full-bodied palate with a rich, fruit-forward texture.
The warmth and dryness of the vintage lend depth, while the finish is marked by excellent freshness and aromatic clarity.
A precise, gastronomic Blanc de Noirs with Coessens’ signature mineral tension.
Terroir & Philosophy
Sourced from Les Riceys, an area famed for powerful and characterful Pinot Noir, this cuvée reflects Coessens’ pursuit of purity and terroir transparency.
The aim is to highlight the Kimmeridgian soils through organic farming, low-intervention vinification and careful parcel selection.
